There are several varieties of trout, and the three most known are the brown, rainbow, and brook trout. They can be found in freshwater but can migrate to the Pacific Ocean or other saltwater habitats.

The equipment for catching trout depends on the type of trout the fisherman wants to catch. The fly fishing rods, for example, are typically used when hunting for a steelhead trout, because the fly rods are sturdy and can hold more length of lines. To fish lake trout, which are simple to be caught, the standard casting rod is enough – it features a pointer finger that helps in maintaining extra grip if needed.

Lighter than the other rods, the six to eight feet long spinning rods are the best to use for fishing any trout. The spinning rods for trout fishing should also have at least medium-fast action and light or medium-light stiffness.
